Books and Random Fabrics for Sale
This page has photos of various random fabrics from my studio and used craft and quilting books…. Updated May 15, 2012 with some Fat Quarters and Half yard pieces.
Due to a recent fall (May 7th) that resulted in a trip to the ER (thankfully no broken bones, but it sent fibro pain levels into overdrive), medical bills are piling up from the ER visit, and I need to follow up with a pain management Dr., so I am parting with more of my stash of hand painted, sunprinted, dyed, and commercial fabrics. I will have some single pieces available as well as bunches of some of my samples, “Guinea pig” fabrics, and random goodies you can play with for various projects. I have added some things to my Andrus Gardens Designs ArtFire Studio, but if you see something you would like on this page, please email me (sue at andrusgardensquilts dot com)to let me know what piece or bunch you would like and I will send a PayPal invoice for the amount due. Shipping charges for First Class mail will be added. Priority Mail for larger orders. Quite a bit of fabric can be stuffed into a flat rate envelope. First Class shipping is included for US destinations for sunprints. Items available from my ArtFire studio will have links with the photos to the listings. You do not need to join ArtFire or PayPal to purchase from my studio or pay using PayPal. Feel free to email me with any other questions, too.
Commercial Fabric Stash Reduction and Random Blocks, Bits and Pieces….
I have been sorting and organizing in my studio and have unearthed a lot of commercial fabrics that I may no longer use and need to part with some. I have listed some pieces in my Andrus Gardens Designs- Patterns, Fabrics and More Shop on ArtFire as I take the time. I have yardage, “chunks and hunks”, and blocks that were to be used in various projects and now need new homes. Check back often to see what new has been added.
The following photos here show a number of Fat Quarters of various fabrics that I had collected to use in Broderie Perse applique. I used to check every place that sold fabric to find realistic floral prints, butterflies and even Hummingbirds. Each piece in the photos has a lime green sticky note with a number to use when ordering the pieces you would like. Each fat quarter is $1 plus shipping. The sticky notes are 1.5 inches long to give you an idea of the sizes of the designs on the fabrics.

The photo above shows how the Winter Birds fabric has been cut out of. It began as a full yard and appx. a fat quarter is missing. (I cut out the hunk to back with Wonder Under for some applique projects.)
The above photo shows the print of the Winter Birds- .75 yd= $1.50 plus shipping.
Random Blocks, Chunks and Seedlings-
The following photos show various scrap pieced blocks, “blocks in progress”, and larger pieced pieces. The ones I am listing here in this section are all in the same color range of fabrics in various shades of burgundy, greens, dusty rose, beige, etc.
This group above is a set of 5- 12.5″x12.5″ blocks, plus two other started blocks that will make a 6th block of the same size. Large Block Set of Five Plus =$10 plus shipping.
The photo above shows a set of 12 randomly pieced blocks that are 5.5″ square. These are in the same fabrics as the above large blocks. Set of 12 5.5″ blocks= $10 plus shipping.
On the Quiltart list, Kay Sorensen has been mentioning her “Quilt Seeds”, scraps of her fabrics neatly cut and ready for stitching when she needs to just sit and stitch. I guess that is what I had been doing with the fabrics used in these groups of blocks. Taking off from Kay’s quilt seeds, I figured these partial blocks could be considered “Seedlings” that have sprouted from those seeds, but not fully “grown” into finished blocks. The photo above shows the smaller Random Sized Seedlings along with some larger ones in the next set available. The smallest ones are around 3-4″ square-ish to 4-7″ squares or rectangles. These are shown on my ironing board that is 20″ wide.
This photo shows the Larger Seedlings in the set. All of the partial blocks in this set are pieced in pretty much straight lines and right angles, much like wild, crazy log cabin type blocks. The larger pieces are roughly 6-7″ square or rectangle.
The photo here to the right, shows the full stack of all of the blocks in this set, shown in the previous two photos. There are about 15 larger seedlings, and 7+ smaller ones. They cover approximately 1/2 yard of area including their seam allowances. Random Seedlings- Greens, Burgundy= $7.50 plus shipping.
This photo above shows some of what is included in the next group. These pieces are very randomly stitched together, so they have become my Really Random Seedlings. The sizes of these are quite varied and some are laid over others in the photo. These 13 seedlings cover an area of about 20″x22″.
Also included in the Really Random Seedlings Set is this crazy patched block that is 9″x11″ in size. This was made up from several really random seedlings stitched together. At one time I had a plan for this, but I have no idea what that was, now… Since it has many of the fabrics used in the pieces above, I am including it in this set.
The photo to the left shows the full Really Random Seedlings Set. Across the top you can see that a couple pieces aren’t quite so random, but seemed to fit here.
Really Random Seedlings Set of 13 plus Crazy Rectangle= $5.00 plus shipping.
The photo above shows a wall hanging WIP made from some of the 5.5″ blocks that finish at 5″ once stitched together. In this piece, the seedlings were growing to become a blooming garden of sorts. I had been playing with various ways to give the impression of a garden as seen through a trellis, and this never got any farther than this. This top is appx. 27″ high by 29.5″ wide. I have some more of the ivory fabric used for the trellis, and I will include enough to finish the rest of that border. This can be finished as a wall hanging or become the beginning of a lap size or larger quilt, you decide! Burgundy Green Trellis Wallhanging WIP= $18.00 plush shipping.
This photo shows one bunch of chunks that has a number of 5.5″ blocks and 7 to 8″ strips at least 22″ long of coordinating fabrics in dusty shades of pinks, greens, and beige. This bunch contains the equivalent of over 5 yards for $10 plus shipping (I have added more since the photo).
I have a lot of these half square triangle blocks. This is the most mixed and random group with a few single blocks and most pairs. This group has 30 squares that are 5″ unfinished size. Most have been accurately trimmed, and some still need to be squared-up. There is one group of these blocks in turkey red and dusty pink shades listed on Artfire. I also have 3 more groups of these… one in mostly blues and pinks, one in peach and green fabrics, and one with Christmas florals.
These are hearts cut out of various fabrics. There are 49 , (1 kelly green, 2 more med blue with snowmen, and one print are not shown in the photo). These would be great for applique. There are 2 sizes- 11″ or 11.5″ wide by 8.5″ to 9″ high. I used to make little wall hangings with these. $10 plus shipping will take the whole lot of them.
Above is a set of 12, 18″ squares of this fabric with Lilacs in dusty shades of green, mauve and purple. These were cut and ready for hemming to become napkins, but never got finished. These can be quickly finished for napkins, or cut into blocks or strips for other projects. There is some of this fabric in the bunch of chunks show earlier. Total amount of fabric is just over 2.5 yds… Dusty Lilacs Pre-cut Napkins listed on ArtFire.
This is another pattern cut into 18″ squares ready to be hemmed for napkins, too. This pansy print fabric has gold metallic outlines around many of the flowers. I have more chunks and strips of this fabric that I will be posting at a later date. This is a set of 12 Pansies Pre-cut Napkin squares is listed on ArtFire
I have also been making up kits using my stacks of strips for making grocery or tote bags. The kits I have so far are listed here in my Andrus Gardens Designs ArtFire shop and include my pattern with enough pre-cut fabrics to make one or two bags. I have lots more kits put together, just not done up “pretty” yet. If you are looking for a certain range of colors and don’t see what you want in the shop, I might have one ready. I think I have between 10 and 12 kits sitting on my table ready for me to stitch up or package up.
Sunprint Fat Quarter Stash Reduction
I print the majority of my sunprint fabrics as fat quarters. Each “quarter” is usually at least 18″x21″, with many an inch or so larger in length or width. I am reducing my collection at very reduced prices to bring in needed income quickly for medical bills, etc…. If you have seen a piece in another post on my blog that you like, go ahead and ask if I still have it… The colors in the photos may not be exact due to different computer screens, but I have tried to get the closest to the actual color on my laptop.
The sunprints are done using leaves and flowers from my gardens along with assorted foamie or confetti shapes. Most have pretty random sized and type prints on them, and a few have related prints in sizes that can be cut into 8×10, 5×7, 3 1/2 x5 inches. I use mostly thinned Jacquard textile paints for the lighter colors, and Dye-Na-Flow for the deeper colors. All have been heat set with an iron for permanence.
Each fat quarter on this page is priced at $12.00 including First Class shipping in the US*. Four or more pieces will be sent via USPS Priority Mail. (*for international orders, please ask about shipping charges). I am slowly adding sunprint fat quarters to my Andrus Gardens Designs Artfire shop at my regular price, so if you see something here, grab it before it gets moved to the shop at full price.
To make a purchase, please send an email to me at sue@andrusgardensquilts.com,
Let me know which piece or pieces you would like to purchase (each fat quarter has a code number with the description) and I will send you a PayPal invoice for payment. (I tried to do Paypal buttons, but I’m not enough of a tech geek to make them work right now) I will try to keep any sold pieces marked as such or remove them.
Next are photos showing 2 pieces each to save time taking and uploading photos. They are still fat quarters, just 2 side by side.
The cranberry FQ above looks a bit deeper in person than the photo looks on my screen.
The Black & Yellow above right is done on the back side of a white on white print.
Above right piece has some pearlescent paint brushed over the pale yellow that is reflecting the flash and hiding the yellow a bit.
Similar colors in both above…. right has more yellow, and both have touches of pearlescent shimmer. Left piece also has veins added to the Maple leaves with crayon rubbings.
Above SQF13 has wider streaks of color with more fabric without prints. SQF14 is various sizes of prints with ferns with Nicotiana Flowers.
Newly added February 1st 2012 is this group of mostly Fern Sunprints. It includes one fat quarter with an 8″ square cut out of it (I seem to have a lot like this), plus two additional prints. The colors in this photo are a bit bThe single Fern sunprint is 9″x11″ and the sunprint with the Ferns and Nicotiana flowers is 8″x10″. Sunprint Group A= $15.00 including shipping.
This sunprint above is appx. 17″x18″ and is one of the more complicated to create pieces. I had planned to use this as a center medallion on point for a wallhanging, but it just hasn’t happened. After taking the photo, I realized that I like the composition the way it is shown in the photo… Soft Peach and Greens Sunprint Panel is $18.00 including shipping, but if you like it, be quick…. I might just change my mind on this one…. The wheels are turning….
Random Hand Dyed Fabrics For Sale
The majority of my painted and dyed fabrics are 100% cotton bleached good quality muslin.
The above dyed piece contains many bright colors that remind me of a bright summer garden. Garden Brights Yard is appx. 38″x44″ = $20 plus shipping.
- Shibori Fat Qtr
This is a fat quarter I did as a pole wrapped shibori in a medium blue and fuchsia that blended in some areas…. The area at the top of the photo is much lighter than the foreground areas. Shibori Fat Quarter= $6 plus shipping.
Scrunch Clean-up Fat quarter= $6.00 plus shipping.
Here is a group of pieces that have been mono printed, stamped, and other random techniques. The small bug piece is appx. 9″x11″, and a fairly thin cotton. The butterfly pieces are each appx 12″x23″ done on a cotton sheeting, and the more random piece is appx. 7″x42″ done on a white on white print. They are all painted with shades of mauve, lavender, blue, with touches of other colors and there are also pearlescent butterflies stamped on both pieces. Bugs and Butterflies Bunch= $10.00 plus shipping.
I you have seen any of my sunprinted or dyed fabrics in previous posts or on Facebook, and might be interested in purchasing, please let me know and I can check to see if it is still available and give you prices.

Extra Craft and Quilting Books
I still have books that I am offering for sale. Most of them have only been opened once, and kept on the shelf. A couple have been used more, but are in great shape. Any damage, etc. is listed with the comments for each book. Some of them are based on more traditional quilts, while a couple are how to’s for ribbon embroidery, that I never have had the time to try, and probably never will. Others have great info, but I need to lessen the load a bit.
If you see something you would like, please email me- sue @ andrusgardensquilts dot com (or see my main website and use the email link in left sidebar), and I will let you know if I still have the book(s) wanted, and price for shipping. (I will try to remove books from the list as they sell, but I may not keep up well) I will then send a Paypal invoice for payment (you don’t need a Paypal account to pay this way), and ship as soon as payment is received. The book titles link to the info page at Amazon so you can see covers and get some more info. Prices have been cut considerably from what I originally wanted. UPDATE: If you see a book you might want, please make me an offer…. I am willing to take less except for the first two that have the ** in front of them.
